Zer moduz Aitor?
Oso Ondo !!! great to see that you know the difference about Spain and Basque hahah.
Euskadi is rather not a region known for nightlife and club music we are thinking of. I found Fever Club in Bilbao and Txitxarro as recommended and not much besides it. Can You tell us about Basque Country in term of electronic dance music?
As you know , Barcelona or Madrid are the main scenes from Spain for all the press , media etc. But we have a big culture of electronic music in Basque lands, the famous “Ruta del Bakalao“ was here back in the days.
Lot of underground raves were running when i was 18 , 10 years ago , just vinyls and Techno. still some of them running. I think im a refined victim of that days. How You and Your friends from Fiakun have developed such a taste and love for this kind of music. Was it the same education, interests or maybe there wasn`t much to choose from that brought all six of You together?
We were just friends from childhood with the love for the music and specially for techno and house. Grown in Gernika, with just 16000 population, people freak when know that we came from Gernika.
You hired Tio Pete Studio to record Your last album. Do You think it is possible to record music of that quality in home studio? What You cannot achieved in home environment?
Yes , for this second long play, i decided to go to a profesional studio, Tio Pete is in the coast of my beloved basque country, and i decided to have also a sound engineer with me “ Jose Lastra “. I started all the drafts and main ideas at my place, with my home studio, but i wanted to go one step forward this time, needed to record, vocals, guitars, violins , piano. and tio pete is the perfect place, with lot of analog stuff.
I love to start the main ideas at home, alone but for this album, it was badly needed to record it properly.
When I was listening to both of Yours long play albums, I was trying to figure out where have You got inspiration from. After I saw pictures of province Vizcaya its all started to make sense. Deepness, calmness, melancholy it all there; but the question is have You ever imagine Yourself in completely different environment and how Your music would sound then?
Nice question, i remember years ago i was thinking to go to Berlin for some months , and some people from the scene living in Berlin, told me “man …. maybe your sound is special because you living in the paradise“
Definitely basque area is so grey sometimes, so i think that influenced me a lot in the creative process.
How You can separate passion to music You produce which is rather deep to music You play live which is more aggressive and has different energy overall? Many of producers can`t do it.
I love Techno and House, i love playing records, but i also love to compose more pop influenced B side music. Sometimes is weird cause people expect one thing on my sets, maybe some people comes thinking about a slow and grey set to a club. this why nowadays im dividing the styles a bit , i will be playing with the band project kind of B side grey pop and keep playing Techno and house on my dj sets.
How long had You been improving Your production skills before You decided to release first tracks in 2007? Or in other words, are You perfectionist in studio and You work long time on one track or You prefer do it with the flow and quick?
its a big failure that i got, im not so perfectionist, back in the days i have released lot of music, that i of course love but sometimes i think that i could have done better. Of course when i was releasing back in 2007 , i didn’t knew that will have any repercussion.
Our Szczecin based artist made a video clip for You. What is story behind that collaboration? How it begin?
Yes !!! first they make a video of a track of mine that it was released by Catz’ndogs, on pets recordings, i was so surprised, fixed perfect and it was such a big art. So immediately when i released the first single from the second album i call Tatiana and Patrick they are so amazing.
Thanks and see You in Szczecin
